Reading on our own is one of the ways we can easily change our life for the better.
Each one of these books will surprise you by what you learn from them and the doors they open for you in life. Inside the five selections you will find ways to increase your happiness, be more proactive, learn about how the mind works, be more mindful, and be introduced to self love. Being short and easy reads they do not demand much time from you to read them. If you are looking to get your reading ball rolling, one of these options is a great place to start………..
1. Zen and the Art of Happiness (145)
“The true source of happiness is within each of us.”
Being shown a new light by this gem you begin to see things differently in an optimistic way. To become aware that your feelings are manifested by what you think, we can then begin to use our minds to our advantage instead of letting them use us.
2. The Art of War (165)
“Our job in this life is not to shape ourselves into some ideal we imagine we ought to be, but to find out who we already are and become it.”
In this great book we learn about RESISTANCE – the main reason we never take positive action in any of our daily endeavors. If you are a procrastinator then this is the ass-kicking you are looking for.
3. The Four Agreements (160)
“Whatever happens around you, don’t take it personally… Nothing other people do is because of you. It is because of themselves.”
Out of all the five books this is without a doubt the most powerful, being one of the more profound books to come around in the last 100 years in my opinion. Within these pages you learn about how we humans are domesticated from such an early age and how our thinking is just a byproduct of our crazy environments that surround us. We must unlearn what we have been taught – we can do that by applying the four agreements to our daily lives. You learn that by becoming more aware you become more in control. Everyone must red this book!
4. Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends On It (68)
“As you love yourself, life loves you back. I don’t think it has a choice either. I can’t explain how it works, but I know it to be true.”
If we don’t love ourselves how is possible to love others? – In this very short book you are taken through one mans dark lows to his vibrant redemption in his sinking life. His way out of darkness and depression: Self LOVE. It has been said that self love is the foundation of life itself and that love is our natural state of being. Want to learn how to go about loving yourself…….then read this BOOK.
5. Sit Like a Buddha (128)
Meditation is scientifically proven to improve various aspects of our life, yet the majority of people do not seems to take up the practice. This book is a gentle entryway into the practice of meditation. If you ever thought about trying mediation a book like this is what you need, as it helps you ease into the practice of doing “nothing”. I have been experimenting with meditation for over a year now and have noticed improvements in my happiness, sleep, attention, and overall wellness.
bottom line: reading books = growth
